“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” – James 4:10 (NLT)
To be humble means having or showing a modest or low estimate of one’s own importance.
This is a difficult thing to live by in our society in which we always try to compete and always striving to be on top.
We are always striving to make more money, have more followers on social media, have the latest and greatest phone, live in the biggest house, and more. We live to want more and constantly out live each other.
We strive to get approval, recognition, and praise from others for we want to feel important but we should be seeking these things from Him for He is more important than us.
“The Lord lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground.” – Psalms 147:6 (ESV)
We should humble ourselves for we have to remember that we are not greater than Him and we are far from His perfection.
We can strive to be perfect but we can not BE Him.
When we come to this realization that He is the almighty one then He will lift us up.
When we can submit to our LORD our God in everything, He will lift us up.
We can not do anything without Him – so praise Him, love Him, have faith in Him and He will provide everything you need and sometimes it is realizing that He gives you everything that you need.
