“And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.” – Luke 14:27 NIV
What is the cross we are to carry?
It is HIS will for our lives. If we surrender it ALL and allow the power of the cross that is within us to work through us, we will truly experience the power of God.
You will come to a CROSS road in life where you have to choose between your will (without the Cross) or God’s will (with the Cross). I understand that it is hard to give up our dreams, goals and aspirations, especially if it is something we have desired a long time but when you finally let go and let God … You will truly experience His power, love, joy, and peace in your life.
There is a freeing feeling when you surrender to His will for you rely on His strength therefore you will never get tired. There is no pressure to achieve your goal for you know it is His will and His timing, so there is no pressure of DEAD lines but ALIGNS to his greater purpose.
When you hold on to your will, you put your own strength in to achieving your goals, it makes you tired and weary. You feel this weight of shame and disappointment when you don’t achieve your goals. You hold on to bitterness and anger when God hasn’t given you what you want but when you trust in God, you accept that God has a plan greater than your own.
Our Heavenly Father knows what you NEED and knows what’s best for you, so have faith in that.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” – Psalm 23:1 NIV
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” – Psalms 23:1 KJV
Are your goals, dreams, or aspirations more important than being a disciple of Jesus Christ?
What is a disciple?
It is someone who is conformed to the image of Christ and follows his teachings. So we don’t have to wait for our big calling for we are called to be holy,
“For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:7 NIV
And we can walk in His WILL by being obedient to his word, cleansing our hearts,
“It is God’s will that you should be sanctified” – 1 Thessalonians 4:3a NIV
So are you willing to pick up the cross and follow Him?
Dear Heavenly Father,
I pray that you conform my heart to yours and that you help me walk in obedience of you. Help me deny myself so I can pick up my cross and follow you. I truly want to be your disciple. Cleanse my heart O God, and forgive me of my sins. Remove the desires of my heart that is not in your will but let your will be done.
In Jesus’ mighty name.
