11 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for.
3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
When I used to think to myself,
“Why did God choose me to reach out to the people on the street (homeless, addicts , prostitutes and dealers)? I can NOT relate to them.”
I questioned God’s will for my life due to my fears, insecurities, pride, and feelings of inadequacies but as I obeyed God’s will in my life, I started to realize that God can use anyone to fulfill his will. There are too many testimonies of this in the bible from Abraham, Moses, David, Jeremiah, Rahab, etc.
The one thing that I had to do is walk by faith and not by sight, for …
“… Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” – Hebrews 11:1
If you read Hebrews 11, you will see the testimonies of those who walked by faith and fulfilled the will of God. The same way I questioned God of why he choose me, many people in Hebrews 11 had the same doubts and fears as I but I had faith that God would lead me in the right direction.
“I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word.” – Psalm 119:101 (NIV)
It is a hard to walk by faith for it requires you to let go of what you know and trust in God. It requires your old self to die so that Christ can live in you. It seems hard at first because it goes beyond all your logic but when you actually do it, the outcome is usually greater than you imagined. When you don’t trust in God, things that you imagined never happen or if they do, it was more difficult than you anticipated.
“For we live by believing and not by seeing.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7
Walk by faith & trust in God.
